The Necsa Group, through its Human Capital Development (HCD) initiative, is offering a 12-month funded Internship Program aimed at promoting skills development. This program provides recent graduates with the opportunity to gain practical experience while receiving a monthly stipend. The internship is designed for unemployed South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 who hold relevant tertiary qualifications in specific fields.

The internship program focuses on providing experiential learning to graduates by placing them in roles where they can apply their academic knowledge to real-world scenarios. For the Mechanical Engineering Internship, participants will be involved in various technical tasks that contribute to the optimization and maintenance of plant operations. The program also supports participants in developing professional skills through hands-on work, contributing to their future career prospects in the engineering field.

Responsibilities

Interns in the Mechanical Engineering program will undertake a range of responsibilities, including:

  • Conducting technical investigations related to the allocated plant.
  • Performing feasibility studies for potential plant expansion projects.
  • Analyzing job cards to address high failure rates in components and machinery.
  • Monitoring plant performance to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Assessing the energy usage of equipment and exploring energy-efficient alternatives.
  • Ensuring all procedures and work instructions are updated following any plant modifications.
  • Participating in plant and process monitoring activities.
  • Reviewing the scope of work for plant shutdowns and conducting inspections of critical equipment during these shutdowns.
  • Writing technical reports detailing shutdown processes and outcomes.
  • Coordinating meetings between maintenance and production teams.
  • Drafting specifications for spare parts and assisting with the compilation of User Requirements Specifications (URS) for maintenance.
Qualifications

To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an unemployed South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Hold a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification in the relevant field.
  • Candidates who have not participated in any prior internship programs are eligible for this opportunity.
