Overview:

The Government Printing Works Internship is aimed at graduate students and recent graduates who wish to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of printing and publishing. Responsibilities:

  • The intern will be involved in designing and arranging official documents.
  • Operating and maintaining printers.
  • Working as a team member with others to maintain production standards that are high level.
  • Confirming the quality of prints through inspection methods called quality control check.
  • Contributing towards new techniques for manufacturing printed products.
  • Engaging actively in project planning & implementation.
  • Carrying out clerical functions related to press operations.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or admission into a program such as Graphic Design, Printing Technology and Publishing among others currently active at any higher education institution should suffice.
  • Must have an eye for detail as well as commitment towards perfectionism at work.
  • Adobe Creative Suite, CorelDRAW etc are some graphic design software programs that one should be familiar with.
  • Knowledge about printing processes and equipment is limited but necessary.
  • Communication with other people is a skill that can only be developed over time alongside cooperation within groups.
  • You must know how to organize yourself because you may find yourself working on several assignments simultaneously while observing tight deadlines.

Requirements:

Aspiring candidates must be between 18-35 years old South African citizens interested in the print industry who want grow further within the sector. During this period interns will have full-time jobs hence they need to always report at GPW office when designated by superior.
