The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) offers an Internship Programme for the fiscal years 2024 and 2025. This initiative is designed to provide recent graduates and individuals with formal qualifications the opportunity to gain essential workplace experience. Through this programme, the GPL aims to contribute to the development of skills in alignment with the objectives set forth by the Skills Development Act.
The Internship Programme at GPL is structured as a 24-month fixed-term contract, during which participants will receive a monthly stipend of R7,000. The programme specifically seeks Transversal Mainstreaming Interns, focusing on individuals with academic backgrounds in particular disciplines.
Interns will engage in various tasks pertinent to their field of study, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings. The programme seeks to enhance interns' capabilities and prepare them for future employment in their respective domains.
Prospective applicants must possess a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields: Commerce, Public Finance and Administration, or disciplines related to Gender, Disability, or Youth Studies. Additional criteria include:
- No prior participation in any Internship Programme.
- South African citizenship.
- Age range between 18 and 35 years.
- Responsibility for the evaluation of foreign qualifications by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) lies with the applicant.
- No prior criminal convictions or pending legal cases.
- No previous employment in the field of the advertised position.
Participants in the programme will benefit from practical exposure to a professional environment, thereby enhancing their employability. The monthly stipend is intended to support interns financially throughout the duration of the contract.
Applicants are restricted to applying for a maximum of three positions that closely align with their qualifications. Each application must be submitted via a separate email to ensure proper processing.
