Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited is offering Internship and P1/P2 Work Integrated Learning opportunities for the year 2024/2025. These positions are aimed at graduates, diplomats, and students who require experiential exposure to complete their qualifications. The program provides practical experience in various engineering and mining disciplines, contributing to participants' professional development in the mining industry.

The Internship and P1/P2 programs at Harmony Gold Mining aim to provide candidates with valuable work experience in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Metallurgy, and Mining Engineering across different operations. The program is open to South African citizens below the age of 35 from specified districts. Successful applicants will be placed at one of Harmony's operational sites, where they will gain hands-on experience and exposure to the technical and operational aspects of the mining industry.

Responsibilities

Interns and P1/P2 students will be assigned responsibilities aligned with their area of study and program requirements. Depending on the discipline, tasks may include:

  • Assisting with mechanical and electrical engineering tasks at DornKoop or Tagert Operations.
  • Participating in metallurgical processes at DornKoop Operation.
  • Engaging in mining engineering activities at Mponeng Operation.
  • Supporting engineering and mining teams in daily operational tasks.
  • Contributing to problem-solving initiatives and technical projects.
  • Completing work integrated learning (P1/P2) requirements as specified by their educational institutions.
Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the program:

  • Be a South African citizen under the age of 35.
  • Be from the following districts: Free State (Lejweleputswa, Matjhabeng, Masilonyana), North West (Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Ratlou, Moqhaka), or Gauteng (City of Johannesburg, Merafong City, West Rand).
  • Hold a full tertiary qualification from an accredited South African university or college.
  • Applicants for internships must have completed their qualification in the relevant field and must not have participated in a similar program previously.
  • Applicants for P1/P2 Experiential Learning must provide a recent letter from their educational institution indicating the need for P1/P2 exposure.
