Mintek is pleased to announce the availability of an internship opportunity within its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) sector for the 2024/2025 cycle. This position is designed for individuals interested in contributing to the development and implementation of strategic risk management practices. The ERM Intern will support the Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ), and ERM Department in coordinating and overseeing the execution of the ERM Framework and Policy, along with other related risk management activities.

The ERM Internship Programme at Mintek aims to provide interns with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in enterprise risk management. Participants will engage in comprehensive risk management practices, contributing to the organization's strategic goals by enhancing risk awareness and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

Interns will be expected to:

  • Assist in conducting risk assessments to identify potential risks within Mintek.
  • Analyze data to assess the likelihood and potential impact of risks.
  • Contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
  • Monitor the execution of risk mitigation measures.
  • Compile and present data analysis and reports pertaining to risks for management review.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices in risk management.
  • Benchmark Mintek's risk management processes against industry standards.
  • Support internal audits focused on risk management.
  • Aid in the creation and delivery of risk management training programs.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness within the organization.
  • Collaborate on various risk management projects and initiatives with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of risk assessments and related documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for improving risk management processes.
  • Enhance the organization's risk management framework.
Qualifications

Candidates are required to possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 7) in Commerce, Finance and Accounting, or Risk Management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ERM software solutions is advantageous.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude, a proactive mindset, and a willingness to learn.
