The Public Protector South Africa (PPSA) Internship Programme offers unemployed South African graduates the chance to gain invaluable experience in public administration and related fields. This structured, one-year program provides on-the-job training to prepare participants for the formal job market.
PPSA's Internship Programme aims to equip young graduates aged 18–35 with hands-on experience and development opportunities within a professional setting. Through this 12-month internship, interns will work alongside experienced professionals in PPSA, gaining skills essential for career success. Positions are available across various business units, including Communications, where interns can apply their academic knowledge to practical scenarios.
Interns will have a range of responsibilities, including:
- Participating in day-to-day operations within their designated departments.
- Adhering to PPSA’s policies and procedures, including signing the required secrecy declaration upon starting the internship.
- Engaging in professional development activities that support their career growth.
To be eligible for the Internship Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a completed Degree, Diploma (NQF 5), National Diploma (NQF 6), or Honours/Master’s Degree in relevant fields from an accredited higher learning institution.
- Be a South African citizen aged between 18 and 35.
- Be an unemployed graduate with no prior internship experience.
- Willingness to find accommodation and transportation if applying for a position outside of their area of residence.
This internship provides interns with practical, career-focused experience, fostering professional skills in public administration. Successful completion of the programme enhances employability and prepares interns for future opportunities in public or private sectors.
