The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is inviting applications for the UNFPA ESARO Policy and Programme Support Internship for the 2024/2025 cycle. This internship seeks individuals who are capable of transforming ideas into impactful actions, delivering sustained results, and managing resources with excellence in the realm of sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, and population and development.
The internship is designed to offer participants the opportunity to engage with policy and programmatic support activities in middle-income countries. Interns will gain exposure to the political, social, and economic factors affecting population and development issues, while contributing to the strategic objectives of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action.
Interns will undertake the following responsibilities:
- Support the monitoring of trends and developments in relevant political, social, and economic environments.
- Contribute to the development of policy briefs, reports, and research outputs aligned with the ICPD Programme of Action.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of technical cooperation programs focused on sustainable financing.
- Support the organization of MIC-Hub initiated trainings, consultations, and conferences.
- Perform additional tasks as required by the MIC-Hub, ESARO.
Eligible candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Recently graduated from a recognized university with a university degree.
- Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program at a recognized university.
- Enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (e.g., Master’s or higher) at a recognized university.
- Enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program at a recognized university, with the internship forming part of this program.
Additionally, candidates must demonstrate:
- An interest in the field of development.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- The ability to adapt to new environments and maintain professional relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
