Overview:
Drakenstein Municipality’s Internship is an extensive program which allows interns to gain practical experience in different fields. Trainees will have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned experts on projects that give them exposure, practice and service delivery that transform our society like town planning, environment management, finance, works department among others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of municipal projects.
- Findings from studies conducted on different matters in the community for documentation purposes.
- Assist department heads with day-to-day administrative duties.
- Offer suggestions during municipal initiatives meetings.
- Seek feedback through community engagement for better service delivery improvement.
- Perform any other work assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a tertiary institution specializing in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Finance or related courses.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to present information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Conversance with office software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel PowerPoint).
- Ability to plan one’s own time effectively as well as working independently.
- A love for humanity services as well as interest towards developing a same society.
Requirements:
This category comprises South African citizens aged between 18-35 years residing within Drakenstein area or willing to relocate at their own cost. Interns will have to commit themselves fully throughout an average period of 12 months per annum in most cases. Furthermore they shall be able to furnish a clean criminal record plus academic testimonials if required up on being asked for the same positions should also submit proof of their highest qualification when applying for the position.
