This program is ideal for individuals seeking entry-level experience in a structured manufacturing setting. Learners will be exposed to hands-on operational tasks, gain experience in monitoring product quality, and develop essential communication and teamwork skills.
As a participant in the Unemployed Learners program, key responsibilities include:
- Performing general line operations and adhering to established cleaning regimes to ensure the safe delivery of quality products.
- Conducting pre-start-up checks to verify that all areas and equipment are clean and safe, in accordance with SOPs.
- Monitoring product quality against set standards and reporting any issues related to product or packaging faults.
- Quickly identifying and responding to process abnormalities, taking necessary emergency actions when required.
- Actively contributing to an eco-efficient environment by cleaning machinery according to both manufacturer standards and site specifications.
- Preparing and checking raw materials used in production.
- Ensuring the safety of oneself and others in the production line by following all safety protocols.
- Maintaining effective communication with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth line operations.
- Physically lifting packaged products as needed, requiring good physical condition.
Additionally, learners are expected to comply with all requirements set by Unilever and the training provider, including assessments, logbooks, and assignments.
To qualify for the Unemployed Learners program, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Completed Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science, or N3 in Engineering Studies.
- Physical ability to manually lift packaged products and maintain good physical condition.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Participants in the Unemployed Learners program will:
